Six of the best from Amanda Wood saw Letchworth Ladies to a morale-boosting 7-3 East Premier League victory over a strong Bromley and Beckenham side.

Wood scored a hat-trick in each half as Letchworth bounced back from the previous week's defeat against the runaway league leaders.

Letchworth made a dream start when Wood gave them the lead after just three minutes after Charlotte Gibson and Leonie Cherry had combined to set up an excellent cross.

Gibson hit the net herself just four minutes later and Wood's second, midway through the half, looked to have sealed the result.

The Kent side fought back hard and pulled one back before Wood completed her first-half hat-trick two minutes before the break, again from a Cherry cross.

The second half continued much as the first at a furious pace. With Gibson and Sarah Parkhouse dominating the midfield, it was inevitable that further goals would follow.

Two more fine goals from Wood, after 40 and 42 minutes, ended the game as a contest even though the visitors pulled one back 15 minutes from time.

Even when they had to reorganise the defence for the loss of Elisa Luggeri, who had an excellent game at centre defence, Letchworth continued to dominate.

And it was no surprise when Wood notched her sixth of the day from a penalty corner with an hour gone.

Bromley scored the final goal, from a penalty corner three minutes from the end, but nothing could take the gloss off a really positive and professional team performance.

Letchworth travel to Cambridge University this Saturday.

Stevenage Ladies earned a league draw before bowing out of the EHA Trophy 24 hours later.

The ladies first drew 2-2 away at Cambridge Ladies after initial problems finding the ground.

Stevenage still started positively with a goal minutes into the game from Carly Seaton.

Then a conversion by Heather Hemmings past the Cambridge goalkeeper saw the reds 2-0 up at half time.

Cambridge Ladies were relentless in the second half, and pulled a goal back.

Despite Stevenage maintaining the upper hand with possession and play, and gaining a series of short corners, they conceded a short corner on the blow of the final whistle which inevitably Cambridge converted to equalise.

Sunday saw them in the last 16 of the EHA Trophy at higher league St Ives.

Player of the match Jo Biggs hit the post before two short corner conversions by St Ives saw them go ahead.

Holly Mould pulled one back as Stevenage looked to be ruffling the higher division team.

Another short corner shot from St Ives, and a final open play goal, meant Stevenage's gallant attempt to reach the quarter-finals failed.

The seconds beat St Neots 2-0 thanks to an early goal from Debbi Church followed by a second from Tash Howe. Player of the match was Elmarie Gunther.

Other scores: Stevenage Ladies III 1 (Reb Hemmings) Welwyn GC III 0; Stevenage Ladies V 1 (Claire Wakefield) Bishop's Stortford V 0.

Blueharts Ladies scored twice without reply at Chess Valley.

Much of the play was in Chess Valley's half but Harts were relieved when they finally scored their first goal.

A deflected shot by the keeper landed the ball in front of Jay Livermore who slipped it past the goalie.

Tension rose throughout the second half with player of the match Kerry Ross struggling against fate to score.

Lizzie Bayley also made many strikes, one of which was saved off the line by the keeper again.

Elayne Brown was next up to have a go, making a long run and her reverse flick resulted in hitting the framework.

The persistent Brown tried again and a set up to the far corner enabled her to flick it into the backboard with two minutes remaining.

The seconds walloped Tring 7-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Sharon Martin, two from Gina Joseph and one each for Harriet Marsh and Susie Powell.

The thirds won their top of the table clash away at previously unbeaten Bedford 3-2.

Player of the match Hannah Ross and Anna Mastropierro scored equalisers before Ross netted the winner.
