The game may have been a let down but Hitchin youngster George Fitter was still on top of the world after the battle of two of the Premiership's big guns.

George was a mascot at Sunday's goal-less stalemate between Chelsea and Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

The Liverpool fanatic goes to Anfield to watch the matches whenever his dad can take him away from his three sisters!

So it was unbelievable when he was chosen to be the mascot for the Reds and led out the team alongside his favourite player Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard and George led the team out of the tunnel and the youngster said "it was really noisy" as more than 41,000 fans cheered!

Chelsea were excellent hosts as George enjoyed his warm-up with the Liverpool captain and then watched the match in the stands.

The eight-year-old goes to Whitehill Junior School in Hitchin.

For the last two seasons he has played football on Saturday mornings for Hitchin Town Youth 'Hawks and Harriers' and this season is in the under-nines.
