Hitchin Town boss Darran Hay will have an exclusive monthly column in The Comet next season.

Hay said the club is back on the map and now has to unite to take the Canaries to a new level.

Speaking at the latest supporters' forum at Top Field, Hay emphasised that it would be out of character for him to accept anything other than progress.

"I am not the type of person who wants to just stand still. I want to kick things on next season and I think everyone else does at the club."

Hay urged Hitchin fans to spread the word around town.

"Bring your friends along, ask them to come to the games and see what we have to offer," he said.

Hay expressed his deep affection for the club and what it means to him to be in charge at Top Field.

"I am a local man, I have always had an affinity with Hitchin Town and the club's results have always mattered to me. I desperately want to bring genuine success to Hitchin."

And he confirmed that a strict regime would be in place right from the start of pre-season training at the end of June.

"Underperformance will not be tolerated. We will adopt a scientific approach to pre-season and it will all be mapped out.

"All players will be incentivised - I truly believe we can challenge next season and I want everyone to go into the season with this mindset."

Hay believes the mood at the club has changed dramatically over the past few months, a view that has been endorsed by club officials and supporters alike.

"We're all in this together and we can all help it along. I think we've seen over the last few weeks just how powerful the combination can be.

"I want to build on this and next season, we'll be doing our absolute best to have a good campaign."

Hitchin may be running a reserve team next season which will assist Hay in building his squad. The move is currently being considered.
