Datchworth scored 36 unanswered points to sign off the season on a bright note against the bottom side.

From the off it was obvious that the relegated villagers wanted to put on a positive display.

Datchworth made the sensible decision of keeping the ball tight throughout the game and utilising their forward threat.

As Vauxhall started to tire, Datchworth started to put points on the board. Five of the six tries came from their forwards.

Datchworth were 29-0 up at half time having played downhill with tries from Richard Elvery, winger Marc Bush, and Anthony Stone, as well as a pick-and-go from their number eight at the base of the scrum, Matthew Francis.

The second half saw solid defence give away few penalties, and it was not long before Datchworth's hooker, Elvery, powered through to score his second try of the afternoon.

Datchworth were dominant in all areas, especially in the lineout.

With Francis in fine form and jumping at the front, they did not lose a lineout all day and constantly ruined opposition ball.

Young debutant Greg Childs came on at second row against a big Luton pack.

Although Datchworth are now moving down a division, and despite a season of poor results, the villagers are looking forward to some serious regrouping over the summer.
