Letchworth have an interesting finale to the season in prospect.

The promoted first XI are relying on their second team to either draw with or beat league leaders Wapping seconds this Saturday so they will be crowned champions of Division Two South.

Scott Aps scored four in their 8-2 win over Upminster with other goals from Robbie Balsom (two), Matt Smith and Ian Heywood.

The firsts are the league's top scorers, having scored more than 100 league goals this season.

Ian Crosse and Brian Ward were on target for the second team in their 2-1 win at Berkhamsted.

The third XI were confirmed as Division Five South West champions after winning 3-1 at Cheshunt seconds.

Gary Pond, Nick Carragher and Tom McIntyre Brown scored the goals.

Other scores: Letchworth IV 2 (Gary Puttnam, Simon Wallduck) Shefford and Sandy II 3; Bishop's Stortford VI 5 Letchworth V 1 (Keith Knight).

Letchworth won 6-2 against Halstead Imps in the second round of the mixed plate competition.

Blueharts went down 2-0 at Herts rivals St Albans in the East Premier A Division.

Fourth place will be at stake when they entertain nearest rivals Havering this Saturday in their final match.

Stevenage went down 2-1 to Harpenden seconds despite a goal from Steve Scholes.

Ian Wilcox scored a consolation as the second team were beaten 5-1 by Winchmore Hill and Enfield.

Other scores: Stevenage III 4 (Seb Rose two, Khalid Mehmood, Tom Bruck) Berkhamsted II 2; Stevenage IV 6 (Ian Brown two, Harp Mann two, Ryal Swarz, John Oliver) Luton Town III 2; Stevenage VI 0 Harpenden V 11.

MBDA slumped to their worst defeat in several seasons as they were comprehensively beaten 5-0 by Luton Vagrants.

Relegation is now looming after this massive defeat which leaves MBDA in real trouble at the wrong end of Division Six South West, with their final game against Berkhamsted thirds now looking like a mere formality.
