LETCHWORTH Ladies had to settle for an away point in the East Premier League against draw specialists Bury St Edmunds.

Bury started the stronger and it took Letchworth a while to settle on a very slow, heavily sanded pitch which did not suit Letchworth's fast passing game.

As the first half wore on, however, Letchworth started to dominate the possession and attacking play, but a stubborn Bury defence held firm.

The second half almost entirely belonged to Letchworth.

Although keeper Helen King was occasionally called into action from breakaways, it was the Bury keeper who saw the most action, pulling off some excellent stops to earn the Suffolk side a 0-0 result.

Letchworth play their final home game of the season against Canterbury seconds this Saturday (1.30pm at Whitethorn Lane).

Other scores: Stevenage Ladies II 1 Letchworth Ladies II 3 (Deborah Wren, Sarah Pollard, Ros Camp); Letchworth Ladies III 8 (Jo Pinn hat-trick, Julie Fewings, Tiffany Goddard, Lesley Saunders, Sue Saunders, Leanne Gateson) Stevenage Ladies III 1; Letchworth Ladies IV 1 (Ali Adams) West Herts III 5.

Stevenage Ladies kept their promotion hopes alive with a great 3-2 away win at Cambridge City seconds.

An outstanding series of plays in the first half saw the reds 3-0 up at half time.

Lucy Harvey converted a top corner goal, Holly Mould set up Steph Fanthorpe for a second stunner and Carly Seaton made it three with a free hit deflection past the keeper.

The second half proved tougher and some unlucky short corner deflections saw Cambridge creep two goals past the goalkeeper.

Solid defence by player of the match Liz Gates prevented them scoring an equaliser and Stevenage battled to the end for a deserved three points.

Other scores: Stevenage Ladies II 1 (Sophie Warden) Letchworth Ladies II 3; Stevenage Ladies III 2 Letchworth Ladies III 12; Stevenage Ladies IV 0 Harpenden III 5.

Blueharts Ladies played away at fellow promotion hopefuls St Neots, the only team they have really struggled against this season, and went down to a single goal defeat.

With some key players missing, Blueharts worked the ball around the field well, but created few goalscoring opportunities.

St Neots had a few short corners that were cleared by the defence.

There was more of the same in the second half, with player of the match Carol Lamey encouraging her side.

With 15 minutes to go, Blueharts' heads went down as St Neots managed to net.

Blueharts were beaten but remain in a promotion place in the table.
