Howard Davis from the North Herts Road Runners finished in eighth place at the Double Iron UK 2008 double ironman race recently.
The extraordinary test of endurance and mental toughness involves a 4.8 mile swim, followed by a 224 mile cycle and finishing with a 52.4 mile run.
Howard's time of 27-50:58 included 2-17 in the water, 15-26 in the saddle and 10-06 completing the back-to-back marathons at the end of the event. The race was run by Hywel Evans in 21-30:39.
Bob Boss also recently completed a triathlon, the Try a Tri race in Epping, although of a more reasonable distance!
He finished the course in 1-17:15 having swam 300m, cycled 21k and run 2.5k to get to the finish line.
