B ALDOCK got back to winning ways on Saturday at Old Albanian II's.

In a rain reduced game Baldock won the toss and bowled first and after a few exploratory overs Alistair Jones struck to have Richardson caught behind and then James Peacock removed the number three bowled behind his legs.

Jones then repeated the dose three overs later to remove Burman and Baldock were well on top with OA's 55-3 off 24 overs

The pair bowled well together and produced some scares for the OA's batsmen for a further 10 or so overs until the slow run rate sparked Hassan into action who started to find the boundary.

His innings was the only one of note as he made 48 but eventually the accuracy of Tim Dean saw him dismissed and Dean and Andy Payne then put the squeeze on in the late overs to leave OA's II 133-9 off 41 overs.

Dean ended with 4-39 in yet another good display. Jones took 2-40 and Payne 2-22.

Baldock had 35 overs to reach 134 and got the perfect start as Tom Dupuy and Rob Peacock got the score to 48 off nine overs with Dupuy finding the boundary in an entertaining knock of 27.

The loss of his wicket brought James Peacock to the wicket who was not his usual self but with his brother put on a further 32 in good time. When he was out at 79-2 Baldock were very well placed but OA's then changed the bowling and the runs dried up leaving a run a ball chase and a potential close finish.

The key partnership was between Peacock junior who batted comfortably and Payne, and the pair did a good job in getting the rate down with a stand of 38 until Payne lost his off stump for 19.

However, they had done what was required and Peacock and Andy French finished the job with four balls to spare reaching 134-4 off 34.2 overs.

Rob Peacock scored an excellent 64 not out to guide his team to a much needed victory.

Baldock II's beat table topping Bentley Heath in a nail biter at Avenue Park.

Baldock made 197-8 off 51 overs having been 115-6 at one point. Nigel Gazely came to the rescue with an excellent 68 and he was supported well by Logan Newman with 36.

Baldock then set about chipping away against a good batting side and every bowler played their part as the game ebbed and flowed. It came down to the last over when Mark Lafferty juggled a catch to win the match to give Baldock II's a superbly fought win and 30 valuable points. Phil Lucy and Pete Tily took three wickets each.

Baldock III's lost to Parkfield and Headstone III's. Baldock only managed 98-8 off 41 overs as their young and inexperienced batting failed to fire. In reply the bowlers put up a good fight as Parkfield got to 99-5 with under 14 Luke Mongston taking three wickets.

Baldock's Sunday side won a superb game against Titanic by five wickets.

Titanic batted first on a good wicket and they amassed 237-8 off 40 overs.

This was due to an epic knock by Jamie McGowan of 144. He smashed the ball everywhere until his off stump was removed by Rob Peacock. His dismissal saw a slight collapse and Baldock did well at the end to keep the total manageable.

Baldock's innings started in light rain but both teams played on and Robin Watts and Nick Blenkin put on 37 quickly.

Then Rob Cant (25) and Blenkin (47) took the score to just under the hundred before both lost their wickets.

At drinks Baldock were well placed for a push at the total but the rain became heavier. However they stayed out and Rob Peacock started to motor.

He batted with skill and style as he passed his second 50 of the weekend and then he and Ben Diplock (34 not out) smashed an unbeaten partnership of 84 to take Baldock to a great victory at 238-5 off 38.5 overs.

Peacock scored a brilliant 78 not out and once again guided his team to a much needed win in horrible conditions.

Henlow's game failed to finish but they still took the win and 26 points from Sunday's Beds League Division One match at home to Ampthill seconds.

Matt Hicks, fresh from making his Minor Counties debut for Hertfordshire, was the backbone of the home side's 259 all out, the all-rounder contributing a fine 134. Skipper and opening bat Krish Canagasabey added 45.

Ampthill were never in the hunt and had reached 92-6 in 32.2 overs when rain stopped play, Henlow winning as enough overs had been bowled to achieve a result.

Henlow II's look doomed to the drop from Division Three after another defeat, this time by eight wickets at their Sharnbrook counterparts.

Henlow mustered 172-8 in their 46 overs on a wet wicket, Mike Fernando scoring a patient unbeaten 50. The home side had little trouble knocking off the runs inside 30 overs for the loss of two wickets.
