Eleven fighters from TS Kickboxing Club were in action at a gym show in Thurston on Sunday.

The future looks bright at the club with nine wins, a draw and a close loss from a successful day.

Aged from six upwards, they competed against other clubs from across the south of England and for eight of them it was their first contest.

Coach Trevor Spencer said: "They all did themselves proud and have trained very, very hard for this and it showed on the day.

"We had lots of compliments from other clubs on how well they fought and the sportsmanship they showed on the day which is always nice to hear."

Three TS Kickboxing fighters were competing on a show in Birmingham the week before.

Duane Hughes stopped his opponent from Birmingham in the second round with a crushing right cross which sent his opponent to the canvas, and he failed to beat the count giving the local fighter the win by knockout.

James Penny won by a points decision in a close fight against an awkward southpaw opponent.

Gavin Strutt, in his first contest, was involved in what was fight of the night against an opponent from the Midlands, Quinn.

This was an even match-up with Strutt forcing his opponent to take two standing eight counts in the second round, only to see his opponent come back to force Strutt to take two counts of his own in the third.

This fight had the crowd on their feet from start to finish, and at the end everyone thought it was going to be a draw but the decision went to the man from the Midlands.
