FVS TRI were represented at no less than 10 events over the weekend at home and abroad!

The main action was the second event in the FVS TRI club championships over the half ironman distance held at The Beaver Triathlon in the Vale of Belvoir. There were 26 in the tough event over a 2k swim, 53 mile bike and half marathon run.

Gavin May consolidated his lead in the championships with an excellent 10th overall in 4-38:34 and only a week after his stunning Ironman Germany performance!

Ironman Rob Wilson and first timer Charlie Harris were second and third getting under the magical five-hour barrier.

In the ladies' event, ironman Sam Tophill was first home for the club with a 40-44 age group winning performance which also earned her third female overall in a time of 5-35:31.

Paula Adams competed over the distance for the first time and won the 35-39 age group and second in the club championships with 5-38:28.

Chris Yuill was third in her first attempt at the distance in 6-06:48.

On the same course but over the Olympic distance of 1500m swim, 40k bike and 10k run, Mike Bridge was a convincing winner in 2-06:06.

Mark Robertson continued his run of success with fourth overall and a 20-24 age group win in 2-11:56.

Pete Ryan completed his first Olympic event in 2-34:17 on a tough course.

Eight members of FVS TRI raced the ironman events in Switzerland and Austria.

Five-times ironman Kevin Smart led the Swiss contingent and was the fastest with an 11-37:35 but was disappointed with his under-par performance in a race dominated by heavy rain.

New ironman Helen Shulver recorded the second fastest female club time for the FVS TRI Hall of Fame with a remarkable 12-10:46 despite the poor weather conditions.

Nine members of FVS TRI competed in the inaugural Box End 3.8k Open Water Swim event.

Russ Harwood was first home and 11th overall in 55:42, with Vicki Goulding 12th and second female 57:00.

Other times: Kev Ash 1-12:38, Dave Hard 1-16:36, Greg Blount 1-19:26.

In a separate non-wetsuit category, Darren Woodhall was first home in 1-04:00, Stephen Jones 1-11:03, Guy Adams 1-11:35 and Richard Easterbrook 1-26:30.

Brenda Bozwood Davies raced the Eton Times Women Only open water sprint triathlon and came 15th in the 45 plus category in a time of 1-27:17.

Gemma Sargent earned a third consecutive personal best improving her 10k time to 43:45 at the Lee Valley 10k.

Lynn and Richard Allen both ran 10k pbs in the Bushey 10k in Peterborough with times of 48:56 and 40:38.

Annabelle Shortland represented FVS TRI at Kings Langley Kids Triathlon in the 10-11 years age group in near perfect conditions. She completed the 80m swim, 1500m bike and 800m run in 17:25.
