Stevenage stuttered against the bottom side in the HCPL Division Two East.

After winning the toss, they backed their ability to restrict the visitors and chase down whatever total was set.

The plan got off to a promising start as Tanweer Sikandar trapped Mymms stalwart Saxby leg before for four.

Mymms went from 36-1 to 74-4 as Azhar Ali benefited twice from sharp catches by Barry Hann at short leg and Amit Dattani took a straightforward caught and bowled.

Mymms' overseas player, Indian Harshan Rawle, was joined by Bagshaw who looked completely out of touch for the first 40 minutes of his innings.

However, with Rawle expertly controlling the strike, Bagshaw began to grow in confidence.

Rawle's innings was flawless, only looking in any discomfort against Dattani early in his innings, and his shot placement was impeccable as he moved to his hundred.

Bagshaw provided essential support and completed a fifty himself as the pair put on 168 for the fifth wicket - a Mymms record.

The partnership was broken by Ali (4-101) with Rawle (127) well held at deep midwicket by Dattani.

The innings ended on 250-6 from 60 overs, with Bagshaw 67no.

Stevenage's reply suffered an early setback as Gary Brown was caught behind without scoring.

Ashley Bayes followed and with Nas Ahmed and Syed Ali Kazmi caught behind for one between them, Stevenage were faced with a long uphill battle at 36-4.

Sikandar was the main hope for Stevenage having progressed smoothly while all around him were floundering.

He raced to 57 before tea and looked comfortable batting with Navin Seneviratne who showed plenty of nerve and good shot selection under considerable pressure.

The pressure on Seneviratne grew immediately after tea with Sikandar caught and bowled by Rawle, but he continued to play the ball on its merits rather than the match situation and prospered as a result.

In combination with Albert Sodhi (36no), the pair put on 51 before Seneviratne was out leg before for a well-made 47, just missing out on his maiden HCPL half century.

Barry Hann joined Sodhi at the wicket, with the match outcome still unsure with Mymms racing through their overs.

Sodhi moved serenely on but Hann was caught close in with the total on 170 and only four overs remaining.

David Carr was stumped shortly before the inevitable draw was written into the record books.

* The thirds won by 103 runs against their North Mymms counterparts.

An all-round batting display by Stevenage on an uneven pitch saw them total 202.

Senthil Kumar (31), Jason Chapman (34), Ian Brown (46) and Richard Curtis (40) all produced excellent performances in difficult conditions.

When the visitors batted, Curtis (9-4-6-4) and John Mould (9.2-2-16-3) wrapped the game up in devastating manner to give the thirds a third successive win.

* Stevenage made it six wins from six in the Millman Sunday League.

They posted a mammoth 321-6 in 45 overs before dismissing the opposition for 154.

Ashley Bayes (105), Navin Seneviratne (86) and Gary Brown (38) scored well as the home side produced a dazzling batting display to comprehensively defeat their visitors from Luton, Kokni.
