Two new adult football teams are being created in Letchworth Garden City.

Letchworth Garden City Eagles Youth, an FA Charter Standard development club, is one of the largest junior clubs in North Herts.

But there is no outlet for its players once they progress beyond under-18 level following the demise of the old Letchworth Town a few years ago.

Now the Eagles have created a new adult organisation known as Letchworth Garden City Eagles FC, linked to the junior club, to raise the profile of adult football in the town and provide an opportunity to play senior football locally.

They have been accepted by the Herts Senior County League to play in Division One next season, based at their home ground at Pixmore which is next to North Herts Leisure Centre. This has excellent facilities following the erection of new changing rooms in 2006.

Eagles chairman Tony Eden is going to be chairman of the new senior section, and the manager of the first team will be Roy Boon who was the manager of Langford last season.

Sponsors include the Letchworth Garden City Heritage Foundation but more sponsorship is welcome.

There will also be a reserve team playing in Division Two of the reserve section of the Herts Senior County League, based at the Grange in Letchworth GC.

Trials for players are being held in early July and any player over-18 who is interested in being part of this new club or in sponsorship should call Roy on 07977 905837 or Tony on 01462 672075.
