It was a case of what might have been for Baldock Town Letchworth in the Herts Senior Centenary Trophy.

They had Kings Langley, the unbeaten leaders of the South Midlands League Division One, in the palm of their hand until a moment of madness cost them dearly.

Baldock Town deservedly led at half time after a superb move ended in a powerful Mark Nunn header from 10 yards out.

An off-the-ball incident in the penalty area involving Shane Willett and Allan Arthur saw the Reds defender sent off and even though the ball was nearer the halfway line, a penalty kick was awarded.

Willett took the law into his own hands after Arthur had used his elbow on a number of Baldock players.

The resulting penalty was saved by the impressive Jack Farmer but the referee asked for the penalty to be retaken for encroachment and the Kings Langley skipper did not miss for a second time.

Kings Langley scored a second with 20 minutes to go and although the vast majority of the rest of the tie was played in their half, they netted twice in added time to give a flattering scoreline.

Hitchin Town Arena edged past Letchworth Garden City Eagles by the odd goal in five in the Herts Intermediate Cup.

In league action, Knebworth picked up a well-earned 3-3 draw against Wormley Rovers thanks to goals from Ben L'Honore (two) and Tom Martin.

Codicote kept their unbeaten run going by beating Buntingford in a nine-goal thriller.

Bedwell Rangers, featuring newcomers Lloyd Lee and Craig Braine, were beaten 6-2 by Bushey Rangers.

After holding on for 25 minutes, they fell behind to a deflected goal and conceded a second before the break.

The second half saw one-way traffic as Bedwell soon found themselves six goals behind.

New signing Lee was introduced at this point and Bedwell soon pulled a goal back from a Chris Hinch header.

Bedwell scored a second goal when Jamie Kingston found himself one-on-one against the goalkeeper.
