Teenage karter David Pittard was out to make a name for himself in the same competition where Lewis Hamilton was first spotted.

The 16-year-old from Letchworth Garden City (shown right) wrapped up the season with three solid results and 13th in the BRDC Stars of Tomorrow National Karting Championship.

His achievements earlier in the season included coming third in the grand final at the British Kart Grand Prix in Grantham and being awarded the Nick Lowis Memorial Trophy for Driver of the Day.

He was awarded this for his great driving over the weekend and he was the only driver from 400 entries to get on to the grand final podium after qualifying from the B final.

Rounds eight and nine of the Stars of Tomorrow Championship were held at Shenington just outside Banbury.

He put in a good performance to get second, eighth, and 11th in the heats to secure a fifth place for the A final out of the 52 other drivers in the competitive Junior Max class on the Saturday.

Sunday saw him come sixth, third and eighth in heats to put him on grid five for the main final.

He was excluded from the race by the officials after an incident and lost all his points to drop him to 13th in the championship from eighth.

David is looking to make his sportscar debut in the highly successful Junior Ginetta championship that is shown on ITV4 with the British Touring Cars in 2009.

He is looking for local companies to help fund his motorsport career, so email dav30@hotmail.com if you are interested.
