Stevenage recorded their first league win of the season (5-1) with a stylish performance against third placed Bishop's Stortford.

Dominating this fixture from start to finish, Stevenage took an early lead when Ben Oliver created a opening for himself to fire a thunderous shot into the bottom left-hand corner.

Within a minute, Oliver then set up Danny Blackburn whose shot was tipped round the post by the Stortford keeper.

It was two before long when debutant Adam Presland fired an unstoppable shot to give the keeper no chance.

The home side could have had numerous goals, the best chance falling to John Mould whose effort went just wide.

In the second half, Stevenage continued to pile on the pressure and Graham Swinyard came close to extending the lead when he hit the post with a cheeky strike.

It was 3-0 when youngster Tom Spencer lost his marker and delivered the perfect pass for Blackburn to strike past the oncoming keeper with precision.

Tom Wharton then set up Matt Oliver to make it 4-0 with a great strike.

Stortford pulled one back with a rare attack even though the shot did seem to have been struck outside the area.

Man of the match Presland then got his second and the team's fifth with a superb lob over the keeper after great work from Swinyard and Spencer.

The result moved Stevenage up the table and in good heart for Saturday's local derby at Hertford.
