Letchworth GC will be playing in Division One of The Broadview Windows North Herts Cricket League for the 2009 season.

This is after a rain-affected win over Therfield and Kelshall saw them become uncatchable at the top.

Letchworth recovered from the depths of 31-5 thanks to a 110-run partnership between experienced hands Jeremy Gillham (50) and Jerry Dovey (69) to post 163-9 in their 40 overs.

A thunderstorm and torrential rain eventually forced off the players for good with the Therfield and Kelshall reply delicately poised at 138-3 after 34.2 overs.

Letchworth won on run rate - 4.08 to 4.04! - to celebrate promotion.

Datchworth looked on course for victory against Lilley before thunderstorms ended play.

Lilley reached 128 all out thanks to Gareth Tompkins' knock of 64. Reece Pybus took 5-26 while opener Will Nash conceded just eight runs from his seven overs.

Neil Saunders (2-24) and Merv Croucher kept the middle overs under control before Tom Bennett (2-19) started on the tail.

With four early wickets falling in the run chase, Will Nash (17no) and Rob Nash (19no) had got the home side to 70-4 and were cruising before the rain.

Holwell put in a good batting performance against Baldock in Division One before the rains came.

Openers Nigel Pointing (25) and Adam Parkins (47) put on 76 for the first wicket.

Wayne Alleyne hit a patient 56no and with useful contributions from Ricky Glasgow (22) and Julian Rudder (22), Holwell scored 232-5 in 40 overs.

Baldock in reply were 70-2 in 17.1 overs when heavy rain ended the game.

Ickleford were deprived of almost certain victory by the rain against Titanic after posting a formidable 244-6 in their 40 overs.

Youngster Jack Edwards again led the way with an impressive 62 and he added 105 for the second wicket with Duncan Jenner who made a hard-hit 49. John Clark made 36 and Tom Willoughby 26.

Titanic were reduced to 113-6 when the weather intervened, Sam Giggle taking 3-30.
