Blueharts Ladies first team picked up a deserved win at the weekend when they beat the team just below them in the league, Luton firsts, 4-2.

Blueharts were looking as strong as ever and aimed to secure another win before the Christmas break and their strength shone through with a first goal courtesy of Loren Christian, and a second not long after from Jo Floor.

Luton scored from a short corner to make it 2-1 and players on both teams battled hard to swing the game more into their favour, but it was Blueharts who won out when Loren Christian hammered home a shot.

The Blueharts grabbed a fourth goal in the second half, when a quick pass across the D enabled Same Vaughn to slip the bal past the keeper, and although Luton scored another they were unable to claw the game back.

Blueharts seconds drew 2-2 on their travels when they visited Potters Bar to play South Herts in this return league game.

Having previously beaten them 3-0 at home earlier in the season, Blueharts were anticipating a similar result but this time their opponents had a much stronger squad and this made for an intense, end-to-end game.

Blueharts' keeper Kate McMahon made some fantastic saves early on, but there was nothing she could do about South Herts opener when she dived to make a great save but Herts picked up the ball on the rebound and scooped it up way beyond her reach into the top of the net.

The away team fought back and pushed up field, and they were awarded a free hit on the 25 yard line which player-of-the-match Jenni Stewart struck with power into the D.

It was deflected into the net by Gina Joseph to make the score line level.

Herts were quick on the break and caught the Blues out with a counter attack, and the move made it 2-1 at the break to the home team.

The second half witnessed a much more even game and some strong drives up field from Nicky Baxter and Jenni Stewart resulted in numerous opportunities which Harts just couldn't finish off with their usual confidence and style.

In the last five minutes though, up stepped Heather Storey who surprised even herself when her aim towards goal from the top of the D slotted inside the near post to make the final result 2-2.

Despite the appalling weather, Letchworth Ladies Hockey Club's seconds started strongly against Cheshunt and their dominance paid off with two early goals.

The first was slotted home by Deborah Wren from a lovely cross into the circle by Leanne Gateson, and the second, a couple of minutes later, came after a battle in the circle which resulted in Leanne Gateson putting it away.

Letchworth continued to dominate but with some great defending by the Cheshunt team they were kept at bay.

Shortly after coming on Heidi Wehrmann set up a third goal when after a strong run down the left wing she hit a great shot which was tapped in over the keeper's stick by Jenny Stroomer.

Letchworth kept the pressure on their opponents throughout the second half resulting in two penalty flicks, but unfortunately neither were converted due to good play by the Cheshunt keeper.

The 3-0 result to the home side means Letchworth remain unbeaten and top of the Five Counties League Division One.

Letchworth Ladies fourth team narrowly lost their Five Counties League Division Five match against Queenswood School.

In appalling weather conditions and missing several key players, Letchworth started brightly and their efforts were rewarded when Sue Saunders opened the scoring.

However just before the half time interval and much against the run of play Queenswood equalised.

Minutes into the second half, a home substitute emerged from the car park who changed the course of the game and put Letchworth on the back foot.

Queenswood's pressure eventually told and they scored the deciding goal in the closing minutes, when a deflected shot found its way into the Letchworth goal.
