A HAIRDRESSER is organising a family fun day to bring the community together and to help raise money for charity.

Yvonne Allen, of EV-S Hair Design in Ivel Court on the Jackmans estate in Letchworth GC, said: "I don't think there's been anything up here for 13 years, so I have been told.

"The community's quite disjointed because there's nothing to pull it all together.

"I decided it would be a good idea to come up with a day that everyone can join in with."

Yvonne, who has worked on the Jackmans estate for three years, has organised a fun day to be held on the estate from 10.30am to 3.30pm on September 7, at Ivel Court, Fleetwood and Hadleigh.

Attractions will include live local bands, fairground rides, stalls and stands, face painting, a bouncy castle and a barbecue. There will also be boxing, karate and dancing demonstrations, as well as the chance to sit back and relax with a massage.

Admission is free and goody bags will be given out on the day. All profits will be donated to Keech Cottage Children's Hospice and the local Scope branch.

Yvonne said: "It's by the community, for the community, and any money raised will be going back into the community. It's going to be a really good, fun day."

She added: "It would be great if we could have more help with stalls or if businesses would like to come up and promote themselves. Call me on 01462 686930.
