A charity which collects up outdated computer equipment and gives it a new lease of life in Africa is hosting a donation session in Stevenage next week.

Computers 4 Africa transforms communities across the continent by shipping out redundant PCs and IT equipment from individuals, corporates and organisations in the UK.

Once the data they contain is securely wiped, the computers are used in schools, colleges, clinics and community projects.

A spokesman said: “The computer industry is constantly moving forward with faster speeds, better graphics and larger memories. Huge numbers of computers are discarded each year – some are recycled but some are just put in cupboards or forgotten.”

They say a better option is to let their experts put the equipment to good use somewhere that it will be really appreciated.

You can donate equipment which is still in working order at the Roaring Meg retail park – next to Hobbycraft and Oak Furnitureland – on Thursday, January 28, from 10am to 5pm and on Friday, January 29, from 9am to 4pm.
