WANT to volunteer at the world’s biggest sporting event?

Well it’s just become much easier as Letchworth GC, Stevenage, Baldock and Hitchin will all be providing support sessions for those keen to be volunteers at the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Held in each town’s library, the Games Maker open days will offer advice and help to those filling out their online application to ensure they have the best possible chance of being part of the Olympics, which kicks off on July 27, 2012.

To be eligible to volunteer you must be 18 or over on 1 January, 2012, have the right to volunteer in the UK and be prepared to volunteer for a minimum of 10 days during the Games.

You will also have to attend at least three days of training before London 2012 and find your own means of transport and accommodation during the event.

The first of four open days in Comet country takes place at Letchworth Library on Monday, September 27.

Volunteer Centre staff will also be on hand to help at Stevenage Library on Monday, October 4, Baldock Library on Tuesday, October 5, with the final open day at Hitchin Library on Thursday, October 7.

All sessions are from 11am to 2pm and attendees are asked to bring ID as this is needed during the application.

For those with the volunteer bug, there is also the chance to volunteer in your own community right now.
