CHILDREN at a Biggleswade school took time out of the classroom this week to put safety first.
The pupils from Southlands Lower School in Kitelands Way, joined two PCSOs Debbie Craig and Sally Good, local beat manager Pc Ian Wilson and Chris Chandler the county council's road safety officer, to make them more aware of safety on the streets and near roads.
The aim was to highlight how safety is compromised by parents parking their vehicles outside the school and raising awareness of the new regulations regarding child restraints in cars.
Children from years three and four at the school also produced posters in a competition to promote the initiative with the winning posters presented to parents.
