A young cow had some beef with drivers this morning when it decided to take its life in its hands and wander onto the A1(M).

Police said ‘pull the udder one’ when they were called to the northbound carriage way at Junction 9 for Letchworth Gate shortly after 11am when the calf was spotted in the inside lane.

But they soon milked an opportunity to show off their skills by introducing a rolling road block and keeping the cow – which is unharmed – penned in on the hard shoulder.

They are still steaking out the area until the owner can be contacted and there may still be delays for drivers moooving past the incident.
