You may have heard that: Ickleford has won the Hertfordshire Village of the Year competition and now go forward as the County's nominee to the Calor England Village of the Year competition for judging next year. Ickleford also won the Best Community Project Award. The judges made specific mention of the excellent response of 86% that the village had received from residents to the Parish Plan survey and also the tremendous effort achieved by St Katharine's Church members in raising half of their required targeted funds towards church improvements. The judges praised the village for the excellent community spirit that was in evidence through the activities and wished the village success in the national competition. The formal presentation ceremony of the award takes place this Saturday on Upper Green at 12.30pm in the presence of the Lord Lieutenant of Hertfordshire and Chairman of the County Council plus other members of the Hertfordshire Society. It is hoped many residents will come to see the presentation as this award is for everyone in the village.
