LOCAL artists are to get the chance to show their work in a new series of exhibitions at the headquarters of Mid Beds District Council.

The reception area at the council offices in Priory House, Chicksands, is to be given over to a programme called Xhibit, where both professional and amateur artists from the area will show their work.

Every six weeks, Artists Network. Bedfordshire will be hanging work that has been created by an artist who lives in Mid Beds and all the exhibits will be for sale.

First to show her work is Sue Melville, who is currently chairman of the network, and shares studio space with five other artists at the Courtyard Gallery in Ampthill.

For Xhibit, she has chosen to show a mixture of acrylic/oil paintings and some prints and her work will be on show until May 9.

Sue, who studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London and has taught for many years, says her inspiration comes from places with a sense of magic or mystery and has recently been inspired by trips to Florence, Barcelona and Venice.
