Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning will take place on Friday, with plenty of opportunities to get involved and raise money taking place across North Herts.

Conceived in 1990, the annual event has become the charity’s biggest fund raising cause, with more than £200 million being raised in the 28 years it has been running.

Stevenage will be hosting three coffee mornings over the coming few weeks. Cinnabar in the Old Town welcomed visitors last Saturday.

Nationwide bank in Queensway will be raising money for Macmillan from 10am to 5pm on Friday, and the Truro Court independent living facility is to run a raffle at their coffee morning from 10am to 1pm.

The church of Christ the King in Filey Close have set Friday, October 5, for their event, running from 9.30am to 4pm.

Graveley Village Hall in the High Street will be offering cake and coffee on Saturday from 10am to 12 noon.

Datchworth Sports Club ran their coffee morning on Monday from 10.30am to 1pm. In nearby Woolmer Green, Care UK’s Knebworth care home will host their event this Friday from 11am to 12pm.

The award winning Brewery Tearooms will also be offering cake and coffee on Friday from 9.30am until closing.

People in and around Hitchin has had five coffee mornings to choose from this week.

The first will was held at IT Works Ladies Gym in Wilbury Way from 9am to 7pm on Monday. Promain Paints in Pierson Court follow tomorrow, Thursday – running from 10.30am to 3.30pm.

There will be two events on Friday, with Benslow Music in Ibberson Way hosting theirs from 10am to 2pm, while Walsworth Community Centre’s coffee morning runs from 11am to 1pm.

Weston’s Irongate Barn will open its doors and welcome visitors from 10am to 12pm on Friday to raise money.

Letchworth has had four fundraising mornings this week, with Shires Funeral Directors at Howard Park Corner the first to host – running from 11am to 2pm today, Wednesday.

Thursday will see Garden City Court in Whiteway welcome people from 10.30am to 12.30pm, while Carol Dunston will open up her home at 8 Allison from 10am to 2pm to raise money for Macmillan.

The Arena Tavern in Arena Parade will hold their coffee morning on Friday from 10am to 12pm.

In neighbouring Baldock, The Grandparent Hub are encouraging people to bring cake along to their event on Saturday, running from 10am to 12 noon.

There will be three coffee mornings in the Arlesey, Stotfold and Henlow area, all held on Friday.

Arlesey’s Community Resource Centre in High Street will be having a raffle at their event, which runs from 9am to 1pm.

In Stotfold, the Greenacre Centre in Valerian Way are running their event from 11am to 12 noon. In Henlow, The Hair Factory salon in Hitchin Road will have cake on offer from 10am to 12 noon.
