The children, pupils at Holmemead Middle School in Biggleswade, were celebrating their version of World Book Day on Friday.
Under the watchful eye of school library co-ordinator Jane Sharp, over 100 pupils and a few members of staff dressed up to reflect the characters from books they had enjoyed.
"The pupils put a lot of effort and creativity into their costumes," said Jane.
"They brought the books they had read to life and the costumes were fantastic."
Twenty one pupils and one member of staff were judged as the best dressed on the day.
The winning children were Jessica Lincoln, Mark Rogers, Emily Arduini, Charlotte Denny, Warren Mead, Danielle Watkins, Laura Wells, Penny Chamberlain, Sarah Field, Harvey Lock, Saul Johnson, Hannah Mullen, Alex Hughes, Luke Hale, Jonathan Waghorn, Jodie Wilson, Tania Castle, Sophie Rudland, Georgina Cook, Holly Nolan and Anna Robinson. The winning teacher was Steven Cole who dressed up as Superman Clark Kent.
