MAJOR roadworks are to begin soon on the A507 at Chicksands lasting more than three months.

Work starts on the new roundabout on the major road at the Chicksands/Campton crossroads on Monday (February 6).

There will be a 40mph speed restriction on the A507 from Shefford to the crossroads for approximately 14 weeks, says Mid Beds District Council.

Also, Priory Road, leading to Campton, will be closed from the A507 from Monday, February 27, for seven weeks and a diversion route will be put in place.

The roundabout is part of the works associated with the move of Mid Beds District Council to its new headquarters at Chicksands.

"Although the works may cause an inconvenience around the south gate during the rush hour, the council has been assured that bus services on the site will not be affected and access to and from the Annington site will not be unnecessarily impeded," said the council.
