On Tuesday, January 10, Madeline Purdon welcomed some twenty members to the first meeting of the New Year. The speaker was Richard Revels, an excellent photographer, whose slides illustrate his book Wild in Bedfordshire. Not only was his talk informative and interesting, it was like being taken on a walk through our Bedfordshire countryside. A short tea break, served by Greta Bosworth and Barbara Sheil gave members time to look through the Scrap Book which Mrs Lucy Rogers has been compiling illustrating members' walks during 2005. The items entered in a competition was judged by Mr Revels and won by Hilda Rowe with a picture of an owl she had made some 25 years ago, out of all types of grain. Mr Revels then continued with his slide and talk and everyone agreed it had been a wonderful escape from the January weather. The raffle was then drawn and won by Sandra Whitehouse. The next meeting is on Valentines Day, Tuesday, February 14, at 7.30pm when nominations for committees and officers will be discussed and appropriately wedding dresses. All members are asked to bring a family wedding photograph for display, if you think this might be of interest to you please come along.
