AN OPPORTUNITY has been netted for young women in North Herts who want to take up football.

The Kick Yourself Fit initiative, launched by North Herts District Council (NHDC) and Hertfordshire FA, kicks off next month.

Women aged between 16 and 25 can take part at the football sessions, which will be held every week for women of all fitness levels and abilities.

It’s marketed to be particularly good for those who haven’t played before or for a little while.

Cllr Tricia Cowley, NHDC portfolio holder for community engagement said: “We’re really pleased to have teamed up with Hertfordshire FA to offer these sessions. “Taking part in a regular sporting activity like football is a great way to keep fit and meet new people. I hope that a lot of local ladies will come along and give it a go.”

The sessions are funded through the Sportivate scheme from Sport England as part of the Places, People, Play initiative.

Sessions start on Wednesday, October 5 at the North Hertfordshire College Hitchin campus on Cambridge Road between 6 and 7pm. They cost 3 a time.
