A woman died after being struck by a train between Arlesey and Langford on Saturday afternoon.
Ambulance crews from Letchworth GC and Biggleswade were alerted after reports of a person being hit by a train at 1.31pm. Due to the nature of the call an air ambulance was sent to assist the crews.
Ambulance service spokesman Gary Sanderson said: "Unfortunately there was nothing the crews could do to save the woman and she was confirmed dead at the scene.
