A woman was detained under the Mental Health Act after climbing onto the roof of a town centre building in Stevenage.
Police were called just after 8pm last night after concerns grew for the welfare of a 21-year-old woman in Queensway.
The woman – who was on the roof of the Santander building – was detained by officers around 10.30pm under Section 136 of the Mental Health Act, before being taken away by an ambulance before midnight.
An eyewitness told the Comet: “There was a lot of police activity in the shopping precinct.
“The police stopped people from walking up to Poundland – with cleaners and people doing late shifts in adjacent buildings were moved away for their own safety.”
