AN aggressive burglar who attacked a woman is being hunted by police.
It is believed he struck at around 10pm on Wednesday at a house in Filey Close, Stevenage.
A woman was in her home when the man got in through the front door. It is believed she was assaulted and an unknown substance was sprayed in her face. The offender then carried out a search of the house and stole an amount of cash and some items of jewellery.
The woman was hurt during the incident and needed hospital treatment. She has since been released.
The suspect is described as a white man, around 6ft tall, and was wearing black clothes.
Det Insp Gary Atkinson, investigating, said: "We're treating this incident very seriously and I'm appealing to anyone who believes they may have seen any suspicious behaviour in the area that evening to call me as soon as possible via the non-emergency number 0845 3300222.
