A SEX attacker is being hunted after an assault on a young woman in Stevenage in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Police have appealed for witnesses after a woman walking alone near Homestead Moat was approached from behind and assaulted between 1.30am and 1.45am.

Officers do not have a description of the attacker, but asked anyone who saw the victim, who was wearing black and white clothing, or a man loitering in the area to come forward.

Detective Inspector Damien Kennedy said: β€œIt may be that you live locally and were returning home from a night out or from work and saw the victim before, during or after the incident. Did you see any male loitering in the area?”

A 43-year-old Stevenage man was rebailed by officers on Thursday in relation to a seperate sexual assault on Mildmay Road in the town between 11.40pm and 12.35am on August 11 to 12. He must return to Stevenage Police Station on November 8.
