An alleyway behind the former Marks & Spencer store in Stevenage town centre has been cordoned off this morning after industrial bins were set on fire.

Police were called by the fire service at 12.45am today after the bins were set alight in the alleyway off Market Square.

Officers attended and a woman was arrested on suspicion of arson. She is currently in police custody.

A police cordon remains in place while investigations are carried out.
