THERE is a new star at the Shuttleworth College weighing in at several hundredweight with the name of Balsham Ulysses.

To the students he is plain Billy the bull who has put the college farm firmly on the agricultural map.

Born two years ago, Billy is a fine example of the Red Poll breed of cattle and earned his first rosette when he came third in the calf show at the East of England Showground in Peterborough.

Not only did Billy come away with a prize but many of the students did as well in the calf show. In the young handlers class for under-21s, Shuttleworth students led.

In first place was Harry Horrell, followed in third spot by Will Croxford, fourth was Tim Morland and fifth place went to Aaron Thorne. Further success came in the young persons' stock judging competition where the students had to judge a selection of calves. This competition was again won by a Shuttleworth student, Josh O'Neill who is studying for a First Diploma in Agriculture.
