The winter steam season is hotting up with historic locomotives due to visit Stevenage on three dates in the coming months.

Heritage rail tour operator The Railway Touring Company has announced that its White Rose, Lindum Fayre and Christmas Tynesider steam specials will be stopping at Stevenage on route north.

On Saturday, November 12, The White Rose hauled by magnificent locomotive 60019 Bittern will depart from King’s Cross, Potters Bar and Stevenage for a day out to York.

The Lindum Fayre will also call in at Stevenage on its way to Lincoln for the ancient city’s famous Christmas fair on Saturday, December 3, hauled by ‘Giant of steam’ 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley.

Both 60007 Sir Nigel Gresley and 60019 Bittern are A4 class Pacific steam locomotives built in the 1930s to haul express services between London and Edinburgh. Their sister locomotive Mallard famously achieved the world steam speed record racing along at 126mph in 1938.

Our competition winner and their guest will receive a pair of premier dining tickets worth �398, including a full English breakfast as they travel north on board the 1950s and 60s restored carriages of The Lindum Fayre. Breakfast will be followed by a light lunch before arriving in Lincoln where there will be around four hours to enjoy the festivities.

Re-boarding for the return journey premier dining passengers, including our lucky winner, will be served a four course dinner, freshly prepared by on board chefs and silver served at their table.

Travellers on The Lindum Fayre should look out for a fellow VIP passenger. Father Christmas and his elves will be joining the train bringing festive cheer and presents for the children.

Tickets for The White Rose to York start at �82 per person (family �210), first class is �119pp (family �300) and premier dining �199pp (family �590).

Fares for The Lindum Fayre are: standard �80pp (family �200), first class �122pp (family �310) and premier dining �199pp (family �565).
