At last week's committee meeting, Kathie Morley, the coordinator, announced that due to relocation, she would have to give up her key job in the Wanderbus scheme. This means that a replacement is being sought, for a local person, to oversee the voluntary drivers, bookings, bus maintenance and contacts with the public and various other bodies. A telephone is provided and an honorarium paid for this interesting and vital service. Interested then please call 01462 701700 for full details. It is anticipated that the present bus could be replaced with a new one next year, with funds and grants available to them. Local town and parish councils are considering their support for this year, with some already responding, their help is greatly appreciated. Passenger numbers are slightly down and a poster campaign has been mounted to raise awareness of this opportunity to visit other shopping centres and places. Three drivers have reached retirement age, with heartfelt thanks going to Alan Dean, Ken Godwin and Steve North for their help and commitment over many years.
