Shrewsbury’s McAllister and Brunt, from Bristol Rovers, returned to their parent clubs this week after three and one month loans respectively.

McAllister, 26, formed an effective partnership with Dean Parrett in the heart of the midfield as Boro went on their recent four match unbeaten run, and had featured in 14 consecutive games since joining the club. Brunt made three starts and two substitute appearances.

Speaking about their impact at Stevenage, Westley said: “Both were exceptional for us. They’re both great professionals and the types of lads you’d love to work with longer term. They’re both fantastic players and working with them was tremendous. You saw what happened when they were here – that was a team thing, of course – but they played their part in that.”
