BORO boss Graham Westley has been named the Blue Square Premier Manager of the Month for January.

The Boro boss oversaw big wins in both of his club's matches during the past four weeks, beating Cambridge United 4-1 on New Year's Day and Kettering Town 2-0 on January 23.

Speaking to the BBC's Non-League Show to announce the decision, Blue Square's Alan Alger said: "He's been second so many times since taking over again at Stevenage because they tend to have the kind of months where they win four then lose one or draw one and it always goes to someone else.

"If I say he's been pipped five times or six times I wouldn't be exaggerating. This is the first time he's won it since he returned to the club but thoroughly deserved that one."

Westley has actually won the award since his return to the club when he picked up the award for the same month last season.

Darren Edmonson, the manager of Stevenage's FA Trophy quarter-final opponents Workington, won the prize for the Blue Square North during January.

The Blue Square Premier Player of the Month for January Magno Vieira of Ebbsfleet United.
