It was a night of reminiscence and memories for former pupils of Whitwell Primary School as they gathered together to remember times gone by.

At Whitwell village hall, the former site of the old school, around 150 past students reunited for an enjoyable night to look back on the past.

Peter Marshall of Hitchin, a former pupil who attended the school from 1940 to 1945 before it was converted, described the night as "a brilliant do, it was good to get together and remember old times".

For Jack Meadows and Les Shambrook of Codicote in particular, as the only remaining members of the Whitwell 1933 football team, the event was a memorable experience.
