Delighted organisers of this year’s Starlight Walk fundraiser for the Garden House Hospice report that numbers were the highest they’ve been for more than two decades.
Records show that more supporters took part in the first ever Starlight Walk, but the 2015 event - helping to make the organisation’s silver anniversary year and the biggest single fundraiser in the hospice’s calendar - attracted a full house of 550 entrants, reckoned to be 100 up on last year’s field.
And it could probably have been more, but registration had to be closed ahead of Saturday night’s event for health and safety reasons.
After registration and a warm-up zumba session at the North Herts Leisure Centre, walkers - individuals, groups and teams in fancy dress - were led out onto the streets of Letchworth and beyond on a dry and clement night perfect for a communal celebration in support of the charity which provides care for patients and their families across Stevenage and North Herts.
