A man who broke into Waitrose in Stevenage in the early hours of Thursday morning was given a community order by magistrates at Hatfield Remand Court on Friday.
Sean Lloyd, 24, of Nightingale Road, Hitchin pleaded guilty to a charge of burglary after officers arrested him in the High Street store shortly before 1.30am.
He was ordered to remain at North Herts Sanctuary, the Hitchin homeless hostel, for the next two months.
