The Friends of Hampson Park group have been working with Stevenage Borough Council to help improve their popular local park. They have applied for funding to help buy new play equipment in partnership with the council, such as the outdoor gym and skate park.

They have also run events such as the annual Teddy Bears’ Picnic, and a brand new event for this year, Music in the Park.

Volunteering to maintain the grounds in partnership with the council has included looking after shrub beds, tree planting, and general clearance as well as reporting issues such as dog fouling, fly tipping, broken fences and benches.

The Friends of Hampson Park committee meets once a month to plan their activities. The park now has Green Flag status.

The next Teddy Bears’ picnic is in Hampson Park on Wednesday, July 26 from 11am to 3pm.
