A POSTBOX painted gold to mark Victoria Pendleton’s success at the London 2012 Olympic Games will be staying that way permanently.

Royal Mail has said the box, in Pendleton’s hometown of Stotfold, will be kept gold.

It has now received a new coat of paint and has a plaque which details Pendleton’s achievements.

The postbox on Brook Street was originally painted gold last summer to mark Pendleton’s gold medal win in the Women’s Keirin.

It was one of 111 across the country painted gold by Royal Mail last year to mark the successes of Team GB and Paralympics GB at London 2012.
