A van driver who was caught at wheel near Stevenage while four times the alcohol limit has been given a suspended prison sentence.
Shane Ansell, of Benington Road in Walkern, had 140mcg of alcohol in 100ml of breath when he was stopped at the wheel of a Ford Transit van in the village at 9am on April 25. The limit is 35mcg.
The 38-year-old admitted drink-driving when he appeared before Stevenage magistrates.
Chairman of the bench Rosemary Bolton sentenced him to 10 weeks’ imprisonment, suspended for 12 months, and banned him from driving for 36 months. He must also pay £85 costs and £115 surcharge.
