Hitchin Ladies Rugby Club thought they had reached ‘peak’ exposure last week after our Comet exclusive on their naked calendars went viral – but that was without banking on 50 Cent taking an interest!

The American rapper and successful businessman born in the South Jamaica neighbourhood of Queens in New York – who has sold more than 30 million records globally and won a host of awards including a Grammy – posted a picture of the women we used in our original story.

The musician, who released the 8.4 million selling album Get Rich or Die Tryin’, posted a picture of the team on his Facebook page this morning and received more than 13,000 Facebook ‘likes’ in 15 hours.

He said approvingly: “That’s one way to raise cash.”

Hitchin Rugby Club, who play their home matches at Old Hale Way, cheekily responded on Twitter asking: “So 50 Cent...do you want a calendar?”
