AN uninsured driver led police on a high speed chase through Hitchin this morning.
The 18-year-old man sped away from officers at 11.25 am after his green Cherokee Jeep triggered an alert in a patrol car on Nightingale Road that it was uninsured.
Police pursued the car for ten minutes through the town with support from the force helicopter before the driver was forced to a stop in Swinburne Avenue.
The driver was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, criminal damage, dangerous driving and driving document offences.
He is currently in police custody.
