Two local charities have teamed up as the date of a daredevil firewalk event draws ever closer.

Both the East & North Herts Hospitals Charity’s Forget Me Not appeal to fund improvements to make a stay on the Lister Hospital’s wards more comfortable for patients suffering from dementia and the Letchworth-based Garden House Hospice, which provides care for patients and their families across Stevenage and North Herts, will benefit from the fundraiser.

The walk is planned at the Stevenage hospital from 6pm on Thursday, November 26.

Hospice chief executive Sue Plummer said: “We’re delighted to be working with Lister charity on this event.

“It’s a great way for two organisations to work together to support patients and their families in need of specialist care and to work together and raise money.”

There will be full instruction of all participants before the fiery finale. Registration is quick and easy – just contact Zoe Doherty at the Lister (01438 286370, zoe.doherty@nhs.net) or Cathy White at the hospice (cathy.white@ghhospice.co.uk, 01462 679540).
