Two people were taken to hospital after a crash on the A507 which left one vehicle on its roof and another in a field.

Emergency services were called to the A507 – on the stretch between Baldock and Buntingford – at about 5.45pm last night after a two-vehicle collision near Cottered.

One had overturned and ended up on its roof, while the second had swerved off of the carriageway and come to rest in a field.

The A507 was blocked, and closures were put in place while the ambulance and fire crews worked at the scene.

Police left the scene after both vehicles were recovered at around 9pm.

A spokeswoman for the ambulance service said: “We received an emergency 999 call to the A507 near Cottered yesterday evening at 5.45pm after reports of an RTC. Two ambulances were sent, and on arrival they treated two patients who were both conveyed to the Lister Hospital in Stevenage.”
