TWO members of the public have received certificates of commendation from the East of England Ambulance Service NHS Trust.

Caroline Catherell from Letchworth GC and Thomas Moore from Bassingbourn, near Royston, helped the victims after a motorbike collided with a car at the junction of Stotfold Road and Cambridge Road last Friday.

Duty ambulance operations manager Stewart Wilson, who attended the scene, said: "Two members of the public, who were driving past at the time of the crash, stopped and helped out two people who were involved in the collision.

"One of them stabilised the man on the road, and a woman reassured the man in the car.

"They were both extremely helpful. It was a pleasure to meet up with them both again and present them with their commendations. Their help on the day was very much appreciated."

The man riding the motorbike was taken to Lister Hospital with slight injuries. The man driving the car was checked over by paramedics and did not require hospital treatment.
